Micro Weddings . . The New Bridal Norm?

Well here we are months into a pandemic and we're all finding a new norm. For Wedding and Event Professionals, that norm has consisted of Micro Weddings. While Micro Weddings have always been around, their popularity has obviously grown due to necessity for small groups for any gathering during this time. So what is a Micro Wedding anyways? Well by definition it is a wedding consisting of 50 or less people, but usually 20 or less. They are usually shorter and more simplistic than a large ceremony. Most often, they have a more relaxed and casual reception too. There are some definite benefits for choosing this style of celebration and we've listed our favorite reasons below.

  • More Venue Options . . .
    • These are intimate gatherings that allow the engaged couple more flexibility in planning their big day. I mean, we all know there are a lot more options to seat and feed 50 people than 300. So you want to get married on a mountain top? Ok. Beach? Sure thing! Inside you favorite restaurant? Yummo! Backyard? How romantic.

  • Cost Savings . ..
    • According to RealSimple, the average cost of a wedding in the United States in 2019 is $29,200. That is no chump change that could be spent on a down payment for a home, continuing education, rainy day fund and much more. A smaller gathering doesn't create a shortage of love or romance. The memories aren't any well less memorable.
  • Less Stress . .
    • Planning a Micro Wedding is just less stressful and less planning is needed overall. A smaller bridal party welcomes less confusion and varying opinions. Have you ever tried to get 10 Bridesmaids to agree to a dress style? No? Well consider yourself very, very lucky! You can really scale down some of the traditional items and make this day completely about you and your fiance'.
